TELUS Days of Giving 2025: Volunteering transforms communities

The Ramón Belloso School Center in Colonia Monserrat, San Salvador, El Salvador, hosted a volunteer day that showcased what happens when private companies, communities, and civil society work together. During TELUS Days of Giving 2025, more than 1,200 volunteers from TELUS Digital El Salvador and Glasswing International came together to revitalize the center’s facilities, indirectly benefitting around 9,000 people in the surrounding community.

This event also celebrated 15 years of partnership between TELUS Digital and Glasswing. Since the partnership began, Glasswing has supported this community through Extracurricular Clubs. This year’s intervention strengthens that sustained work, revitalizing spaces that now offer greater safety, stimulation, and opportunities for active learning.

Improving school infrastructure helps create environments that support learning, reduce absenteeism, and strengthen students’ sense of belonging.

An experience of shared purpose

The participation of more than 1,200 volunteers turned this day into an act of shared responsibility. Renovated classrooms, new murals, and improved facilities reflect a shared conviction: when communities come together, change becomes possible.

Volunteering transforms both schools and the people who participate. By connecting directly with students and families, volunteers deepen their commitment to the communities they serve, generating hope and more opportunities.

More than improving physical spaces, the day represents a shared commitment to learning and community wellbeing.

A supportive school environment can be decisive in keeping children and young people in the education system, strengthening their sense of belonging, and opening pathways to a different future.

TELUS Days of Giving 2025 demonstrated that transformation begins with concrete actions on the ground and grows through stronger communities, safer schools, and greater opportunities for young people.

Fifteen years of partnership

The partnership between TELUS Digital and Glasswing was created to promote the personal, social, and academic development of young people through meaningful learning experiences that strengthen leadership, English, creativity, and sports skills. Currently, the Community Schools model is implemented in three schools in Santa Tecla: Walter Soundy Educational Complex, Marcelino García Flamenco School Center, and Luisa de Marillac Catholic Educational Complex, offering Sports, English, and Discovery clubs.

Through this partnership, more than 5,900 students have participated in over 540 extracurricular clubs with the support of around 2,000 TELUS Digital volunteers.

Each year, two volunteer cohorts support the development and implementation of these clubs. TELUS Digital and Glasswing continue to work together to strengthen schools and expand opportunities for young people.
