Expanding school-based mental health

Our Community Schools are safe havens not only for students, but also for teachers and other members of the communities we work in. Teaching mental health skills and developing ways to cope with emotions and stress is beneficial for everyone both in and out of school. Each week, Glasswing school coordinators visit different public schools and lead restorative circles focused on mindfulness and other mental health activities. Last week, school coordinator Lidia Rivera and a few members from our Glasswing Fellows program led an activity where kids in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade at a school in San Salvador practiced breathing and meditation techniques before starting their days.
