Glasswing Guatemala
Guatemala is a multiethnic and pluricultural country. Along with El Salvador and Honduras, it makes up Central America’s “Northern Triangle.” Similar to its Central American neighbors, Guatemala faces significant migration concerns stemming from high rates of poverty and violence, as well as some of the region’s highest rates of inequality. Approximately 29.6% of the population lives in extreme poverty, 49.8% of children under the age of five suffer from chronic malnutrition, and Guatemalans attend school for an average of only four years. Around 70% of Guatemalans are under the age of 30, with limited economic and social contexts due to a lack of formal employment opportunities, low levels of education, and citizen security concerns.
