Meet Bryan

“I lost my mother last year, and the pain I felt is something that I really can’t explain. After she died, I acted out. I was rebellious, disinterested, spoiled, and had a very bad attitude at home and at school. My grades started to slip and I started getting a lot of bad grades. It got to the point where I was almost expelled. I think I turned my pain into anger, because I was not like that before. Although this time has been very difficult, I have been able to find solace in the Soccer Club. The Club and our school coordinator, Arely, have helped me work through my pain. I am very grateful for this because through my participation in the Club, I have been able to improve my mental and emotional health. When I’m in the Club, I disconnect from my emotions and am present, engaging with my peers. I brighten up and forget about everything else. This release has made a big difference in my life.”
