Hospital-Based Violence Prevention
Health
Glasswing International is currently implementing the first-ever Central American Hospital-Based violence prevention program in El Salvador. In response to the alarmingly high rates of violence in the region, this program aims to address violence from a public health perspective and break the cycle of violence by focusing on psychosocial support for injured patients at the life-changing moment of violent injury. This program not only works with patients directly, but also trains doctors, nurses, teachers, and community members on trauma to create a trauma-informed system of care. To date, more than 850 victims of violent injury have benefited from this initiative, and 294 hospital personnel have been trained in proper response methods.
