My name is William, and I am 18 years old. In 2017, I started participating in the Robotics Club and became a Discovery Club volunteer. A year later, I became a Robotics Club volunteer as well.
In the Robotics Club, I competed and won third place in Generation Now. This was a great personal achievement, and awakened a passion in me for technology and all things robotics.
Being a volunteer has changed my life. I have a better perspective on difficult situations and I’ve discovered passions I didn’t know I had. I’ve learned new things, learned how to teach, and I’ve grown both personally and academically. Now I am a much more outgoing and positive person who sees opportunities instead of obstacles.
It has also been a great experience to see how much the kids get out of each session. I have seen them grow and develop skills, and I learn a lot from them as well. I get a lot of joy from knowing that, even though I don’t know everything, what I share with them will help them become better people and fulfill their dreams and goals.
Due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to continue volunteering face-to-face, but “En Casa con Glasswing” allows us all to continue participating in different club activities. I also helped distribute humanitarian aid baskets within the El Zonte community.
I am grateful to have all the opportunities that PuroSurf provides in our community. El Zonte is full of good people who want to become agents of change and help move our country forward.
