My name is Christian Montano, I am 20 years old and am a My First Jóvenes Constructores beneficiary – a program implemented by Glasswing International in Ciudad Delgado, El Salvador.

This initiative saved my life. Before joining the program, I faced a number of problems in my high school. I was also struggling financially and on many occasions, I didn´t have anything to eat. I would get frustrated when lunchtime would come around and I barely had enough to buy tortillas.

Jóvenes Constructores targets at-risk youth, like me. We get training on how to operate and repair industrial machines, cashiers, and learn how to provide excellent customer service, among other skills. The goal is for participants to secure a job in the formal sector or return to school by the end of the six-month program.

I was able to do both. I now have a dream job working at TexOps where I was recently promoted to Junior Engineer. I am also currently in college studying computer science. I earn enough to over tuition as well as meals for my mom, my brothers, and myself. I never knew all of this could be possible. Thank you for believing in us and giving us opportunities that have changed our lives!
